Hanover College: Rivers Institute: Traveling Theatre

Rivers Institute Traveling Theatre

Summer Theatre Tour

This year the Rivers Institute at Hanover College will sponsor a touring program of one-act plays written and directed by Hanover students. We are now taking booking requests for our touring season: June 15th through August 8th.

If you'd like to see a performance, please check back in mid-May for the tour schedule.

  • "Ghost Light" by Chyna Cheaney
  • A young boy conquers the fear that keeps him from pursuing his dreams with the help of two great Hoosier performers from the heyday of vaudeville.

  • "Waiting for the Universe" by Korby Reed
  • Two scientists wait for a signal from space that will determine once and for all the place of Earth in the universe.

  • "Rex Stout Rings Again" by James Wylder
  • Indiana author Rex Stout finds himself caught in a mystery straight out of one of his novels. How will he solve the case and clear his name?

  • "The Everything Store" by Kayla Snabl
  • Be careful what you wish for at the Everything Store; you just might get it.

Also, by special arrangement, we will present an excerpt from Crosier in Arcadia, a work by long-time Hanover professor of theatre Tom Evans. As a young man, Sidney Crosier abandoned a promising art career in Cincinnati and the opportunity to study in Europe to take care of his aging mother in Corydon, but he continued painting until his death in 1930. This excerpt shows Crosier's creativity extending to his materials as well as his techniques.
